This seasoned goalie is wanted by Newcastle United; is he a good fit for Howe?
It has been suggested that Newcastle United pursue David de Gea during the impending January transfer window. David de Gea is currently a free agent, and Alan Shearer recently pushed Newcastle United to make a move for him in an interview with BBC Radio 5 (via The Daily Mirror). Shearer stated,”I would agree that the two main priorities for me would be goalkeeper and center forward,” Shearer remarked. However, good luck in your search for a capable center forward who you can get for a respectable sum of money.
Will De Gea Be a good Option For Howe?
De Gea can be a safe pair of hands in goal when he is playing well on the pitch. He has got fast reflexes that help him pull off a few solid stops at the back. The Spanish talent is a good handler of the ball as well and is proficient at passing the ball out from inside his half.
De Gea will no doubt be an upgrade over Martin Dubravka who has failed to impress as Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe’s first-team keeper in recent weeks. Therefore, the Spaniard could prove to be a decent option to consider in the upcoming winter transfer window.
At 33, De Gea might still have a few couple of seasons left in him to play at a high level. Hence, it makes sense for the Tyneside club to try and acquire the services of the former Man United star when the transfer window reopens this January.
