Reading worry over defender injury as Academy graduate set for scan..
Reading are worried about defender Tom Holmes‘s fitness after a hectic holiday season; Holmes, a graduate of the Academy, had a scan on his calf.
The 24-year-old has been performing admirably despite a demanding schedule, and as a result, he is once again in Ruben Selles’ plans.
Tyler Bindon came on as a substitute for the center back in Monday’s 3-2 victory over Exeter City after playing the whole match last week against Cheltenham.
Holmes can now rest and get back in shape for the Royals with nine days off until League One action resumes.
“He felt some discomfort in the calf after the game against Cheltenham,” Selles explained following Monday’s victory. We attempted to keep him yesterday, but he complained of pain at the start of warmup and was subsequently unable to participate today. It is common for everyone to play with exhaustion, fortunately it is nothing. He will hopefully find out tomorrow after his scan.
Andy Yiadom, captain of the club, has been out for four games due to a knee injury. However, Tuesday’s match against Brighton and Hove Under-21s in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy is a potential return for him.
