Wolves ‘accelerated behind the scenes’ for transfer – Player ‘directly contacted’, efforts ‘moved up a gear’
Wolverhampton Wanderers have ‘recently escalated behind the scenes’ in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain attacker Hugo Ekitike.
According to Le 10 Sport, the striker has “always had a weakness” for the Premier League and could be enticed to join.
They say that Ekitike is on the radar of several clubs during this transfer window as he seeks a move away from PSG, who have made it obvious that he is not in their plans.
Wolves are one of those interested, and reports in the recent week have indicated that they are up against competition from Germany to recruit him.
According to Le 10, they have ‘gone on the offensive’ in the last few hours and have ‘personally contacted’ the player and his entourage before speaking with PSG.
The Parisian giants are more than eager to listen to a proposal and have stated their want to part ways with the player, either on loan or permanently.
Wolves have suggested that they are ready to’move up a gear’ and get things going properly, with the striker’s wages now the primary impediment.
He took a’monumental leap’ in pay when he joined PSG, and while Wolves have more resources than their German rivals, they can’t match what he presently makes.
Ekitike will have to work hard to secure the move, but the good news is that he’s always expressed a preference for the Premier League, implying he might be ready to help things along.
