Rotherham Transfer Update: Premier League club recalls defender  to Millers…

Wolverhampton Wanderers have recalled Dexter Lembikisa from his loan term at Rotherham United, dealing a blow to the Millers’ prospects of remaining in the Championship.

Rotherham have had severe difficulties with centre-back injuries this season, but they have been able to rely on right-back Lembikisa, who has played in every league game this season until the 2-1 defeat at home to Swansea City, where he was an unused substitute. He’s started 22 of the Millers’ 26 Championship games this season.

But, given his form, Premier League Wolves have called him back and are expected to transfer him to a higher-placed Championship club for the second half of the season.

Lembikisa, like many modern full-backs, is an attacking player by nature and may be better suited to a team with more possession than Rotherham.

The good news for the Millers is that they anticipated the news by recalling full-back Peter Kioso from his loan at Peterborough United.

Kioso is currently the replacement for Lee Peltier, who prefers centre-back and, like most Rotherham players who can play there, has been plagued by injury this season.
