Raptors Reportedly confirm purchase of 2 Pacers Players…
The Raptors are reportedly interested in two Pacers players.
The Toronto Raptors have already begun their roster revamp.
With OG Anunoby joining the New York Knicks, Masai Ujri will allegedly continue to make moves to prepare his club for the future.
With that in mind, most people believe Pascal Siakam will be the next player moved.
Notably, the Indiana Pacers are allegedly keeping an eye on the forward/center.
However, it may not be doable at this moment, as NBA insider Kurt Helin believes that the Raptors prefer Bennedict Mathurin or Jarace Walker in any prospective Pacers trade (via NBA Central).
Needless to say, this could be a deal breaker.
Mathurin is the team’s leading scorer and has formed excellent chemistry with Tyrese Haliburton, so he will not be available at any cost.
Walker is also young, and the organization appears to be high on him. While he could be available at the right price, they’re not going to give up potential franchise pillars for an old veteran on an expiring contract.
Ujiri has typically been a harsh negotiator, resulting in a number of failed trades.
At some point, he and the Raptors must make a decision and agree to meet somewhere in the middle.
Siakam’s trade value may fall as his deal with the Raptors expires, and there should be no need for any team to overpay for a player they may sign in the offseason.
