Heat – Nets Overtime Recap..
The Heat’s overtime game against the Nets was competitive. The Nets have a record below.500, but they have always played the Heat tough. The Heat were playing the second night of a back-to-back and needed to “gut it out” to win. Bam Adebayo represented Heat Culture by contributing in other ways rather than scoring.
Tyler Herro demonstrated a “grown man’s game” by playing well on both offense and defense. Coach Spolestra called him out in the post-game press conference, claiming that Herro’s 1-on-1 defense was more than merely methods.
Overtime Recap #3: The Heat are playing good defense.
Jimmy Butler stated after a playoff game a few years ago, “We play better when we’re not concerned with making shots and instead focus on defending.” The Heat grasped this and have held their opponents to less than 100 points in their last three games. The common cliche goes, “You beat the teams you’re supposed to beat.” The opponents have been Orlando, Charlotte, and Brooklyn, all of which have under.500 records. However, it appears that the Heat are more concerned with defending than making shots. Check out this Deadspin piece, where the Heat were down 14 at halftime. They then regained the lead late in the third quarter, scoring 37 points.
Overtime Recap #2: Bam personified Heat Culture tonight.
Adebayo did not have a typical offensive game tonight. Both teams had trouble shooting successfully. Check out this piece from the New York Daily News that highlights the tragic shooting. Bam scored 11 points, but he used other strategies to help his side win. He pulled down 20 rebounds and had four assists. He played hard throughout and helped get the ball back to his teammates who were scoring. Tyler Herro had 29 points, while Jimmy Butler had 31. They would not have done so if Bam wasn’t grabbing rebounds.
Overtime Recap #1: The Heat won.
Even Bally’s Sports studio host Will Manso stated in the postgame, “It appeared at first that they were tired.” Any fan would have understood if the Heat lost the game because it was the second night of a back-to-back. However, the Heat kept playing and remained close to the Nets. Then they took a lead at the right time and won the game. Mikael Bridges scored 26 points and always plays his best against Miami. Check out this article on our website about the All-Time Brooklyn Nets team. The Nets have always played Miami tough, but tonight was a moral victory as well. I would not be surprised if Miami started a winning streak.
