The Good, Bad, And Ugly From Tennessee vs. Georgia..

Tennessee has just finished their third SEC conference game of the season. They pulled away with a tremendous win over the Georgia Bulldogs after putting together a huge late run that helped them complete a comeback on the road. Here’s the good, terrible, and ugly from the Volunteers’ Saturday performance.

The Good Dalton Knecht was the greatest part of this game. Knecht had one of his greatest games of the season, with 36 points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block, and just one turnover. Knecht started the Tennessee Volunteers out by shooting 12/20 from the field and 5/8 from behind the line. Jonas Aidoo and Tobe Awaka both played important roles for Tennessee in this game. Aidoo ended with 15 rebounds and five blocks, proving to be Tennessee’s dominant big man throughout the game, while Awaka came in and performed admirably in his limited minutes.

Awaka ended with six points and two rebounds in seven minutes of play. The Bad The terrible thing about this game was the number of runs Tennessee allowed Georgia to score. Georgia had many scores and appeared to be pulling away with the game thanks to open shoots and missed opportunities by the Volunteers. Offensive rebounds were extremely important for Tennessee in this game, as the Vols got numerous shooting opportunities, including free throws, thanks to their excellent hustle and tenacity down low. The Ugly The ugly part would be the turnovers.

The Volunteers turned the ball over 14 times during the game, while the Bulldogs turned it over only nine times. This also didn’t assist Tennessee while Georgia was making runs all game. Six of the mistakes were committed by star guard Zakai Zeigler; however, Zeigler compensated for them throughout the game with strong defense and passing, as well as 18 points, making him Tennessee’s second highest scorer. Tennessee’s free throw opportunities were also not terrific, as they allowed the Bulldogs to get to the line far more than they would have liked, playing physically throughout the game.

The free throw total (23) may not appear to be excessive, but the free throws came during Tennessee’s worst moments of the game, which is why they are rated as ugly. Tennessee will now take the weekend and Monday off to face one of their fiercest rivals in Knoxville. The Florida Gators are on deck, and they will attempt to be another stumbling block in Tennessee’s lengthy season.
