Leeds receives “fantastic” renovation on Firpo & Spence following big Phil Hay revelation.
Leeds United have begun 2024 with a bang, earning maximum points in the Championship with two wins from two, as well as a simple FA Cup success, without conceding a single goal.
This defensive consistency has been achieved despite full-back Djed Spence unexpectedly leaving the promotion-chasing Whites following a brief loan stay, as well as Leeds icon and dependable right-back Luke Ayling leaving the club to join Middlesbrough.
Even with Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu stepping up for Daniel Farke’s team with outstanding defensive performances recently, the German manager will be eager to boost Leeds in the full-back positions and may even want to add another Welshman to his back four with this deal.
Leeds continue to hunt for a left back.
The rumour mill in West Yorkshire continues to point to Leeds’ desire to sign a new left-back, with numbers running low in that position.
Phil Hay, writing for the Athletic on Wednesday, confirmed a number of targets Farke and Co are looking for to add depth to the left-back position, including a possible loan transfer for Tottenham Hotspur’s Ben Davies.
I wrote on Leeds United’s transfer market status, including who they’ve been looking at and if their objectives have changed. For @TheAthleticFC.
Hay went on to say: “They also have a speculative eye on Ben Davies if changes to the squad at Tottenham Hotspur before deadline day make him a potential loan target.”
However, he then added a more damning line: “It feels incredibly unlikely that Spurs would sanction such a move.”
The 30-year-old is an attractive transfer target because of his connections to fellow countrymen Rodon and Ampadu, which may make his move to Championship football simple.
