REPORT: Wolverhampton Wanderers rejects Gunners offer over a seasoned defender

Latest Wolves transfer news

Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly interested in a move for Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri,one of the African cup of Nation stars.

According to football transfers report;Arsenal are in search for a left-back in this window, and that Wolves have already shown resistance by rejecting an offer from the Gunners. Also, talks between Liverpool and Wolves have already in progress and that Nouri could depart either this month or in the summer should a bid exceeding more than £50m be accepted

Ait-Nouri is presently away on international duty with Algeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, and that runs past the shutting of the January transfer window. He played the full game against Angola in their opening group match on Monday and has games against Burkina Faso on Saturday (January 20) and Mauritania on Tuesday (January 23).

If Algeria progress all the way to the final then that would take place on Sunday, February 11, and so any potential deal should a bid be accepted would have to be concluded abroad. It is said by Football Transfers that Mikel Arteta wants to recruit four ‘top-class inverted full-backs’ and Ait-Nouri could be a good fit for the Gunners.

The 22-year-old is under contract at Wolves until the summer of 2026 and so the Molineux club can demand a sizeable fee for one of their prized assets. He has played 19 games in all competitions this season and has made 16 starts which highlights how key he is to Gary O’Neil’s plans.
