Newcastle United pushing for transfer letdown as Birmingham City announce their price for £10 million star….

Birmingham City will part with Jordan James this month if a club will meet their valuation of him, according to a report.

James is in demand with three Premier League clubs; Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion as well as Brentford all linked with the young Blues star.

According to a report from HITC Football, a bid in the excess of £10m would be enough to take James away from St Andrew’s and his next destination is seemingly away from the British shores. Atalanta had been linked with a swoop earlier in the window but now they’ve been joined by Fiorentina who will rival them for his signature.

European clubs such as Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Monaco and Sevilla hold an interest and HITC say ‘a move abroad is more likely than not’ at this stage which is likely to mean disappointment for the three Premier League teams in the race to sign him.

The Hereford-born midfielder is enjoying a purple patch as of late and scored a last-gasp equaliser in Tony Mowbray’s first game against Swansea City. He has made 29 appearances in all competitions this season and has registered six goals including a brace against Leicester City at Christmas.

He is under contract at Birmingham until the summer of 2025 however there is an option to extend that by a further year. Mowbray recently admitted that whilst Birmingham do not want to part with their better players, the potential sale of James could allow them to bring in a replacement and more so.

“Is there interest in him? Maybe,” the 60-year-old said in midweek.

“What’s the number? In my mind, we don’t want to sell our best young players, but if we want to reinvest and you get a number that helps you bring four players in, I hope if that’s what we choose to do – and I’m not saying we are – the fans understand it’s only because we are trying to make the football club better quickly.

“He is a talent, we can all see that. I like watching him burst away from players. He changes pace. He’s like one of these cars that has that nitrous oxide, he can put his foot down and he’s off.

He added: “I can see why he’s coveted. He plays for his country and he’s scored six goals. We’ll see how it rolls in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully he’s still here doing his job, whether it’s an eight, a six, a 10 – he can do all of them.”
