Bradford CEO now criticizes Simmo for remarks made by a striker…

Paul Simpson has been under increasing fire from Bradford City, who even suggested that the EFL take action against the Carlisle United manager.

After the Blues manager claimed the Bantams were requesting a “ridiculous” amount for striker Jake Young, the League Two team took aim at Simpson once more.

We asked Simpson to address recent rumors surrounding the Bradford forward, and he responded on Tuesday to a question from the News & Star.

Since then, Simpson’s comments have been deemed “unacceptable” by chief executive Ryan Sparks. Bradford manager Graham Alexander has stated that it was “completely wrong” for the United boss to discuss a player for a different club.

“I don’t think it’s appropriate for managers or representatives of other clubs to publicly discuss a player who is contracted to another club,” Sparks stated in a recent interview with Bradford’s Telegraph & Argus.

“We turned down three bids on Jake Young. The Carlisle United made one of those bids.”

According to Sparks, talks regarding Young have been had with Tom Piatak, the owner of United, as well as Simpson, but the League Two team anticipated that those talks would remain private.

“On Tuesday, I had a conversation with Carlisle’s owner Tom Piatak and he asked me about our position on Jake,” said Sparks.

“I was quite explicit, and we had a productive chat that ought to have stayed confidential.

“But for some reason, after Carlisle’s match against Barnsley, Paul Simpson decided to bring up the subject multiple times. This, in my opinion, was inappropriate, especially considering that Paul had a similar discussion with Graham Alexander the previous week.

“While I am aware of the rules and regulations, I’m not sure what the EFL’s position is on the matter. It will be interesting to see if any action is taken.”

“There is naturally a lot of speculation floating around, but we would never look to sell any player unless the club was comfortable doing so and adequately compensated,” Sparks continued regarding Young.

After Tuesday’s 2-1 loss at Barnsley, Simpson responded to our post-match query by saying, “He’s a player who we all like but we can’t afford him.”

Bradford is bringing up an absurd amount, so that won’t take place.

The manager of United responded, “From what I’m hearing the figure they’re quoting is way out of our league, and certainly not a figure that I would expect anybody to be paying for him,” when asked if a possible transfer was dead or if there was still hope.

Two days later, Simpson took back his remarks and stated that Carlisle could afford Young but wasn’t ready to pay the kind of money Bradford was requesting.

Considering that Ryan Edmondson left this week, United is still looking for a forward.
