Talented Huddersfield Town player makes unexpected departure | Report.
Rarmani Edmonds-Green, a Huddersfield Town defender, has joined Charlton Athletic for an unknown price. The 25-year-old departs the Terriers after eight years at the club, having joined from the Nike Academy in 2016. The defender leaves Town after making 55 first-team appearances, including 16 this season.
Edmonds-Green has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Addicks, with the option to extend for an additional year. The 25-year-old joins a team that is now 13th in League One, with 30 points from 26 matches.
The defender is Town’s first permanent exit of the window and the second overall, following Josh Austerfield’s loan move to Crewe Alexandra on Thursday.
“Everyone at the club wishes Rarmani all the best with his move to Charlton Athletic,” Town’s sporting director Mark Cartwright told his club’s website. “He’s a smashing lad and has become a very popular figure here over the last eight years with staff and teammates alike.
“Our incomings in this window would have further reduced his playing time here and this move is a good one for him, as it’s to a good club that is closer to his home in London.”
Terriers boss Darren Moore added: “Good luck to Rarmani at his new club. He’s been a pleasure to work with during my time at Huddersfield Town and has played some important minutes for us, but this move is the right thing for all parties now.
“I hope he really kicks on with Charlton Athletic now.”
