‘Exclusive’: Updates on Birmingham City’s transfer target to Black burn rovers and Notts county..

During the January transfer window, two forwards have been connected to the blues. With the release of a recent Blues transfer update, Birmingham City’s possibilities of acquiring Macaulay Langstaff of Notts County and/or Sam Gallagher of Blackburn Rovers have become apparent.

Both players have been linked to a possible transfer to St Andrews this month, as the Blues look to expand their attacking options, but it doesn’t seem to be as it seems.

Birmingham City will not be making any signings. Sam Gallagher

First, regarding Sam Gallagher, BirminghamLive reports that the Blues will not be adding the Blackburn Rovers forward to their roster this month.

This is in spite of rumors that surfaced over the weekend indicating that the Blues had begun discussions about adding him.

Football Insider reports that the Blues and Blackburn have started discussions on a possible loan agreement, with Blues manager Mowbray prioritizing the acquisition of a new striker this month.

But in a recent Q&A, Brian Dick of BirminghamLive dispelled this rumor, writing the following about the club’s interest in Gallagher.

With regard to the club’s interest in Gallagher, Dick stated on BirminghamLive, “I got told no on that one, so I’m going to trust that and say it won’t happen.”

It has always seemed a little strange to me although it was during the turbulent period of Steve Cotterill’s reign, Gallagher didn’t have a wonderful loan spell when he initially joined the Blues, he has had an axe since then.

“He has been linked with Ipswich as well.”

Secondly, Macaulay Langstaff not on Birmingham City’s Radar It sounds as though it is a similar story for Birmingham City when it comes to their reported interest in Notts County striker Macaulay Langstaff, too.

The Blues are reportedly among numerous EFL teams interested in the League Two striker this month, according to a recent Graeme Bailey/HITC article. The striker has scored 20 league goals in 27 games this season.

But it also seems like these connections are only rumors, as journalist Alex Dicken of BirminghamLive provides an update on the club’s alleged pursuit of the 26-year-old.

“Another striker who has been linked with Blues is Macauley Langstaff, who has scored a hell of a lot of goals for Notts County – 20 in 27 in League Two this season and 42 in 47 in the National League last year,” Dicken said about Langstaff via BirminghamLive.

This is also non-starter, I was informed.

“It’s not thought that the Blues are currently keeping an eye on him.”

Birmingham City lacks effective strikers who can score goals.

Blues supporters could be worried about the team’s lack of goal-scoring attackers now that the aforementioned links have been denied, especially in light of rumors regarding Jay Stansfield’s possible Fulham recall despite winning on the road against Stoke City over the weekend, Mowbray’s team is currently ranked 20th in the Championship. One player who scored for the home team is Stansfield.

This season, the loanee has been the team’s top scorer, thus losing him would be a major blow.

Two other Blues strikers, Scott Hogan and Lukas Jutkiewicz, have also been connected to St Andrews departures elsewhere this month.
