Raptors considers to go all-in for Pelicans defensive stud…

Reports suggest the New Orleans Pelicans are considering trades for Herb Jones due to potential financial constraints.

With the Raptors holding multiple picks in the 2024 class and a shallow free agent pool, acquiring Jones becomes crucial for an immediate improvement, especially after parting ways with Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby.

Jones, known for his defensive prowess, could fill the void left by Anunoby’s departure, complementing Toronto’s young core. Averaging 10.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, Jones offers a team-friendly contract at $54 million over four years.

Considering Toronto’s surplus of assets, a proposed trade involves Thaddeus Young’s expiring $8 million contract and a mix of draft picks. Alternatively, impactful players like Bruce Brown, Chris Boucher, or Gary Trent Jr, rumored to be available for trade, could be included.

The Raptors, currently with likely the 31st pick and three first-round picks, present a compelling package. While the uncertainty of Jones being on the trade block lingers, Toronto’s defensive struggles make him an attractive prospect, potentially addressing their 18th-ranked defense.
