Report: “Total chaos” created by a rogue figure causes the West Ham deal to collapse…
The West Ham and Ibrahim Osman deal encountered a significant hurdle attributed to an unexpected demand from an agent named Mitch Bakkovens, as per BT’s report.
Despite not being Osman’s rightful representative, Bakkovens insisted on an exorbitant agent’s fee, leading to the collapse of the £15.5 million deal.
Negotiations between the clubs had been progressing positively, with West Ham bidding 135 million Danish Kroner. However, Bakkovens’ insistence on a fee well beyond industry norms disrupted the process.
Ibrahim Osman, at the age of 19, is officially represented by the English agent Darryl Powell, a fact confirmed by the Danish FA (DBU). This revelation adds a layer of complexity to the situation as Bakkovens had no valid claim to represent Osman. The DBU stated that it would violate football agent rules if Bakkovens were to act as Osman’s agent, emphasizing Osman’s existing representation agreement with Darryl Powell.
The unfolding drama has left the deal in disarray, prompting questions about how an agent with no legitimate association managed to disrupt the negotiations.
While Bakkovens has become the stumbling block, there is speculation that the deal could proceed without his involvement, given the positive relationship between the clubs. However, time is of the essence, as the winter transfer window is set to close on February 1.

West Ham, particularly Tim Steidten, appears enthusiastic about securing Osman, who shares an academy background with compatriot Mohammed Kudus.
The unexpected setback is undoubtedly frustrating for the club, considering the deal seemed close to fruition. As the deadline approaches, there is uncertainty about whether the parties involved can overcome this unconventional obstacle and revive the nearly-completed deal.
