‘The likes of Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen linked with a move to the Emirates stadium… However, Gunners decide finally..
As reported by Fichajes, Arsenal is strategizing a bold move to secure the services of Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa during the upcoming summer transfer window.
In football circles, it’s widely known that Arsenal is keen on acquiring a striker this summer. Despite their recent scoring spree of 14 goals in three games, there are doubts whether this would alleviate the need for a new striker.
The struggles of Nketiah to establish himself in the team, with Trossard currently ahead of him, coupled with Gabriel Jesus’s recurrent injuries and the attacking challenges faced in the earlier part of the season, highlight the necessity for Arsenal to bolster their attacking options by bringing in another striker.
Notably, Arsenal legend Merson has emphasized the team’s requirement for a new striker, asserting that Nketiah and Jesus are unlikely to lead the team to victory.
Expressing interest in strengthening their attacking lineup, Arsenal has been linked with players like Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen. However, according to Fichajes, the club is eyeing an ambitious move for Ollie Watkins.
With 13 goals in 25 league appearances this season, Watkins has impressed, catching the attention of Arsenal. However, Fichajes notes that securing Watkins’ signature won’t be easy, as Aston Villa is expected to demand a hefty fee of at least £86 million for the talented forward.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal can replicate the success of previous high-profile signings, such as Declan Rice, whom they acquired for £105 million a year ago. This suggests Arsenal’s willingness to invest significantly in securing their desired players, despite the hefty price tag.
