After a falling out with the club’s owners, the thirty-year operations director of Huddersfield Town has left the team to join Barnsley, a local competitor.
Ann Hough is now the head of operations and club secretary at Barnsley. Eleanor Dobson, the former secretary, has gone after taking a leave of absence, and her new position will take her place.
When Barnsley was eliminated from the FA Cup earlier this season due to fielding an ineligible player in their first round replay match against non-league minnows Horsham, Dobson was the secretary.
Hough opted to resign from her long-standing position at Huddersfield following a falling out with the club’s management.
James Mooney, the former head of communications for Leeds United, has been involved in Hough’s transfer between the teams and has recently started working part-time as a consultant for Barnsley.
Hough, who won the 2017 Yorkshire Awards’ Woman of the Year award, assisted Huddersfield with stadium relocation, managerial changes, and Premier League promotion.
Following Barnsley’s FA Cup elimination, attention turned on her administrative predecessor Dobson. This has led to the appointment of a new secretary at Barnsley.
According to FA regulations, replays can only include players who were eligible for the first FA Cup tie. Moving forward The first game took place on November 3, while Aiden Marsh was on loan at York City, a National League team. He was called up three days later.
On November 14, he then made his debut in the replay against Horsham.
In a statement, the club said: “We would like to apologise to our fans, players, and staff for this regrettable error.” Barnsley declined to appeal the ruling.
“This mistake, although unintentional, falls way below the high standards we set at this club and is simply not what you deserve.”
“Ann brings a wealth of experience and knowledge with her to the Club, she is widely regarded as one of the best administrators and operators in the game who has worked at the highest level,” Barnsley CEO Jon Flatman said of Hough’s appointment.
“We seized the chance to bring her to Barnsley as soon as we spotted it. We are overjoyed that Ann has decided to work at Oakwell. It has been crucial that we appoint a candidate with a track record to manage the other diligent employees in the department.
