West Ham may lose player to European star just 10 months after signing him

At last, Konstantinos Mavropanos has begun to demonstrate the supporters of West Ham United his true abilities.

In August 2023, West Ham manager David Moyes paid approximately £19 million to bring Konstantinos Mavropanos to the London Stadium (The Guardian).

After Moyes benched Nayef Aguerd, the 26-year-old has seized his opportunity for the Hammers. And it appears that we have taken notice of his recent excellent efforts.

After failing to sign him last summer before us, the huge Greek center-back is still being considered by the Serie A powerhouses, according to a report from Corriere dello Sport (March 4th, page 5).

Former Hammer Mavropanos is a “outstanding” center-back, according to Danny Gabbidon (BBC). He has had a sluggish start at the London Stadium, but he is now starting to show us all what he is capable of.

It would be devastating to lose him when the summer transfer market opens in June, just 10 months after we signed him, but it appears that it could happen.

West Ham might not win. Stavropanos Konstantinos
The Greece international was reportedly targeted by Napoli last summer, and it appears that they may make another attempt to recruit him in the coming months.

The Naples team is aiming for European slots after a dismal start to the season. They are currently only eight points shy of Serie A’s Champions League spots.

If they start winning right away and make it to the Europa League or even Europe’s top competition, Dinos might find them to be a compelling prospect.

But in my opinion, the Hammers ought to make every effort to keep him at the London Stadium.

Konstantinos Mavropanos has averaged 1.6 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, 4.6 clearances, and 2.2 successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored) in his 12 Premier League appearances for West Ham this season.

He seems like he may be the Hammers’ first-choice center back going forward, and he should only grow better from here.

The Greek star must be kept at the London Stadium by Moyes. In the event that Napoli makes a play for him this summer, we ought to turn down any ridiculous offers.
