Latest update:Town defender aiming to return soon after going back to Denmark for calf injury rehabilitation
Luton Town defender Mads Andersen, who joined the club from Barnsley in the summer, has returned to his native Denmark to focus on his rehabilitation from a calf injury that has kept him out for most of the latter part of the Premier League season. Andersen’s debut season at Kenilworth Road has been challenging, with injuries disrupting his progress. Despite initially showing promise in the early stages of the campaign, including starting in three of Luton’s first four Premier League matches, he suffered a hamstring injury during a match against Spurs in October, which was his last start for the team. Since then, he has been sidelined due to another injury to his calf, which has prevented him from participating in any games since early January.
As a result of these injuries, Andersen has missed Luton’s last 10 matches across all competitions. However, a recent video posted on Instagram showed him undergoing rehabilitation exercises in Denmark, including treadmill workouts and weight training. In the accompanying message, Andersen expressed optimism about his progress and his desire to return to action soon to support his team.
Despite his setbacks, Andersen remains hopeful about returning to play for Luton in the near future. Town boss Rob Edwards acknowledged the challenges Andersen has faced with his injuries, noting that despite his efforts and the support of the coaching staff, he has experienced setbacks in his recovery. Andersen, who has scored one goal in 10 appearances this season, had an impressive record with Barnsley the previous season, featuring in 51 matches and earning recognition in the PFA League One Team of the Year.
