Owners of Aston Villa confirm they are building a summertime fund of £200 million
Although Aston Villa’s football team has improved significantly, they are still having financial difficulties as indicated by their £119 million loss in the most recent fiscal year.
There is hope for better revenue prospects, though, as their current situation under Unai Emery may lead to Champions League qualification.
Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris, the owners of Villa, are willing to set aside £200 million in the forthcoming summer transfer window in order to fulfill Unai Emery’s demands, according to Football Insider. This backing is subject to requirements, though, since the ownership demands that the team qualify for the Champions League and sell star midfield player Douglas Luiz.
It’s estimated that Villa might get almost £100 million from the sale of Luiz to reinvest in new players, similar to how Jack Grealish’s departure allowed them to acquire important players with the money made.
On May 13, 2023, at Villa Park in Birmingham, central England, Aston Villa’s Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz (C) celebrates with Aston Villa’s English midfielder Jacob Ramsey (R) after scoring his team’s second goal. The game was an English Premier League football match between Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.
Instead of selling Douglas Luiz, Aston Villa might sell players.
Even though elite teams like Manchester City and Arsenal are interested in Luiz, Emery might not want to part ways with him. Luiz is probably Villa’s most important asset right now in terms of potential transfer income, therefore the manager will need to act decisively to maintain the team’s competitiveness.
Several teams expressed interest in signing Boubacar Kamara, who was signed on a free transfer. But Luiz has a much higher market worth and might command a higher price if he were to be sold.
However, Jacob Ramsey, who is a homegrown player and is reputedly valued at £50 million, may be sold by Villa. Since he graduated from their academy, the club might categorize the price as pure profit if they so choose. This gives the club more options in the event that they decide against selling Luiz.
