Fabrizio Romano shares update on former Everton £25m star…
Former Everton winger Yannick Bolasie, who was signed for £25 million from Crystal Palace, is poised to embark on a new football venture in Brazil after securing a work permit. Bolasie’s stint at Everton failed to meet expectations, leading to loan spells at Aston Villa, RSC Anderlecht, Sporting Lisbon, and Middlesbrough before his departure to Caykur Rizespor on a free transfer. Following his departure from the Turkish club, the 34-year-old briefly played for Swansea before being released in January.
According to renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Bolasie is on the verge of joining Brazilian club Criciuma after reaching a pre-contract agreement. He recently obtained his work permit and is expected to finalize his move to Brazil over the weekend. This represents a notable career shift for Bolasie, once considered a promising talent in the Premier League, but whose trajectory was hampered by his time at Goodison Park.
Bolasie’s tenure at Everton coincided with a period of transition for the club under owner Farhad Moshiri. Despite flashes of brilliance, his career has dwindled, evidenced by his move to Brazil. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him retire from professional football in the near future. Nevertheless, Bolasie still cherishes his time at Everton and has praised the skills of his former teammate Seamus Coleman, emphasizing their competitive battles on the pitch.
