CONFIRMED: Reading man to head out on loan until the summer
Reading goalkeeper Matthew Rowley has embarked on a temporary move to Dover Athletic, as announced by the club’s official website.
The 19-year-old shot-stopper, who recently featured for Beaconsfield Town in the Southern League Premier Division South, joins Dover in the National League South until the end of the season.
Having spent his entire career with Reading and progressing through their academy ranks, Rowley now has the opportunity to test himself at a higher level with Dover. Despite being a regular at various youth levels for Reading, Rowley is yet to make his first-team debut.
Previously gaining experience with Bognor Regis Town and Beaconsfield, Rowley now aims to showcase his talent in the sixth tier with Dover. Although Dover currently sits at the bottom of the table and has conceded 66 goals in 37 matches this season, Rowley’s arrival presents him with an exciting challenge.
Meanwhile, Rowley’s parent club, Reading, continues its battle to remain in League One under the management of Ruben Selles. Currently positioned 18th in the league standings, Reading seeks to secure survival amidst off-field challenges.
After a recent defeat to Wycombe Wanderers, Reading aims for a positive outcome in their upcoming fixture against Derby County at Pride Park.
