Five players Crystal Palace may sign to take Marc Guehi’s spot….
Crystal Palace is reportedly facing the possibility of losing Marc Guehi, with top clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United expressing interest. Guehi’s departure would leave a significant gap in their squad. Despite interests from Arsenal and Spurs in the past, Crystal Palace is gearing up to find a replacement for the central defender. Guehi’s impact since joining from Chelsea in 2021 has been immense, earning 108 appearances for the club and even representing England. With two years left on his contract, his potential sale could surpass the club’s record fee received for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
In light of this situation, Crystal Palace is considering several options for Guehi’s replacement. One prospect is Ronnie Edwards, a highly-rated defender from Peterborough United, whom the club’s sporting director has pursued previously. Another option is Perr Schuurs from Torino, who had a promising debut season in Italy before suffering an ACL injury. Cristhian Mosquera, a 19-year-old center-back from Valencia, is also on Palace’s radar, although his recent contract extension may complicate matters. Palace could also explore a return to Chelsea to secure Trevoh Chalobah, who has struggled with injuries but remains a potential target. Alternatively, Tuta from Eintracht Frankfurt could be considered, given his previous successful collaboration with Palace’s new manager, Oliver Glasner.
These potential replacements demonstrate Crystal Palace’s proactive approach in addressing their defensive needs amid speculation surrounding Guehi’s future.
