Report: Cleveland cavaliers gives a 10-day deal

The seasoned forward, who is still eligible for the playoffs, was released by the Spurs on February 29th. With three key players out due to injuries, the Cleveland Cavaliers enlisted the services of forward Marcus Morris Sr. on a 10-day deal to bolster their lineup.

Before joining the Cavaliers, Morris appeared in 37 games for Philadelphia earlier in the season, then moved to San Antonio on February 8th. Following an agreement on a buyout with the Spurs, the 34-year-old was waived on February 29th, ensuring his postseason eligibility. There’s a possibility that Morris might extend his tenure beyond the initial 10-day contract, especially given the Cavaliers’ injury-plagued season. With recent losses and a 4-6 record in their last 10 games, Cleveland is struggling.

All-Star Donovan Mitchell continues to be hampered by a left knee bruise sustained since the break, leading him to miss the upcoming game against Indiana. It’s probable that the Cavaliers will rest their top scorer for additional games to ensure his readiness for the playoffs. Mitchell’s recent platelet-rich plasma injection sidelined him for seven consecutive games, and his return last week was marked by frustration over his limited agility due to the knee issue.

Cleveland, currently positioned third in the Eastern Conference standings, is grappling with injuries to key players such as Evan Mobley and Max Strus, along with doubts about the availability of reserve Dean Wade against the Pacers.

In the absence of these players, Morris, known for his resilience over his 13-year career with various teams, including Houston, Phoenix, Detroit, New York, the Clippers, and the 76ers, offers valuable assistance to coach J.B. Bickerstaff. Throughout his career, Morris has maintained averages of 12.1 points and 4.5 rebounds in 26.7 minutes per game since being drafted as the No. 14 overall pick by Houston in 2011 after a standout college career at Kansas.
