Aston Villa joins Fulham in race for midfielder who is more powerful than John McGinn’nf
Fulham could be in for a tough battle as they vie with other Premier League clubs for the signature of Bologna midfielder Lewis Ferguson.
Despite their recent impressive performance against Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham fans are left waiting until March 30th for their next match against Sheffield United, with the international break interrupting the action.
Recent reports suggested Fulham had initiated talks to sign Ferguson this summer, but now they face competition from a host of other Premier League teams including Aston Villa, Brentford, Everton, and Newcastle United.
While Brentford and Everton may need to ensure their Premier League status before making a move, this could offer Fulham a chance to get ahead in the race for Ferguson’s signature.
The 24-year-old midfielder has been in fine form this season, contributing six goals and four assists in 28 appearances for Bologna. His versatility and leadership, having captained Bologna since October, make him an attractive prospect for any club.
Described as similar to John McGinn by some, Ferguson’s skill set has caught the eye of multiple Premier League clubs, with Villa possibly seeing him as a complement to fellow Scot McGinn.
With so much interest from top-flight clubs, Fulham may have their work cut out in securing Ferguson’s services, especially with the potential for Bologna to raise his price tag given the competition.
