FINALLY ‘ Crystal Palace Eyes On 22-year old Hull city Winger…
Crystal Palace is closely monitoring the progress of Jaden Philogene, an exciting winger currently playing for Hull City. At 22 years old, Philogene has made a significant impact in his debut season with Hull City in the Championship, contributing to 14 goals by scoring eight and providing six assists. Originally from Aston Villa, Philogene transferred to Hull City in the summer for a reported fee of £5 million, signing a four-year contract. It’s worth noting that Aston Villa retains the option to buy Philogene back for £15 million if both teams end up in the same division, as confirmed by Hull’s vice-chairman Tan Kesler. Philogene, who can operate on either wing, has also gained experience on loan spells with Stoke and Cardiff City, accumulating over 70 senior appearances in the Championship. Despite Crystal Palace’s interest, they may face tough competition for Philogene’s signature, as he is reportedly attracting attention from various Premier League clubs and European teams.
In addition to his club performances, Philogene has represented England at the U21 level, earning his first cap in October 2023 and impressively scoring twice against Serbia in a Euro 2025 qualifier. He is currently included in Lee Carsley’s squad for upcoming qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Luxembourg.
Crystal Palace’s pursuit of Iliman Ndiaye, previously targeted during the January transfer window, has become more challenging with the Senegalese attacker finding regular playing time at Marseille. Nevertheless, Palace’s sporting director Dougie Freedman has built a reputation for identifying and acquiring top young talent from the Championship. Players like Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, and Adam Wharton have all made successful transitions from the Championship to Palace. The value of Eze and Olise has notably increased since their arrival, with Eze signing an extended contract until 2027 and Olise committing to a new four-year deal. Palace could potentially pay £22 million to Blackburn for Wharton, who joined the club in February.
Furthermore, Palace’s dedication to recruiting young talent is evident in their acquisition of Matheus Franca from Flamengo in a deal worth up to £26 million. Despite being only 19 years old, Franca is still adjusting to life in the Premier League, having made 10 appearances so far this season.
