‘Good decision’ – Brooks | Southampton young Talent receives late international call up

Saints defender Ryan Manning has received a late call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad for their upcoming friendlies after initially being left out due to illness. Interim manager John O’Shea had omitted Manning from the squad but indicated that his situation would be monitored, leaving open the possibility of a late inclusion if his health improved.

Now recovered from illness, Manning will join his Saints teammates Gavin Bazunu and Will Smallbone in the Ireland squad as they prepare to face Belgium and Switzerland in home friendlies. The 27-year-old left-back, who could earn his 10th cap for Ireland, will train with his international teammates ahead of the matches.

Manning has been a key figure for Southampton this season, making 33 appearances since joining the club from Swansea. His addition to the Ireland squad adds depth and experience to their defensive lineup as they face challenging opponents in Belgium and Switzerland.
