Dallas Cowboys confirms trading QB to NFC rival in shocking move

The Dallas Cowboys faced another disappointing end to their season despite Dak Prescott’s stellar performance throughout the 2023 regular season. With Prescott in the MVP discussion, the Cowboys entered the playoffs with high hopes but ultimately fell short once again.

Under head coach Mike McCarthy’s play-calling, the Cowboys’ offense, led by Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, emerged as one of the most potent in the league. However, their postseason exit left the team with more questions than answers heading into the offseason.

Initially expected to sign Prescott to a contract extension, the Cowboys and Prescott have yet to reach a deal, leaving Prescott to play out the final year of his contract. Amid this uncertainty, a scenario emerged suggesting trading backup quarterback Trey Lance to the Green Bay Packers for a four kidth-round pick.

While intriguing, such a move seems unlikely given the ongoing contract standoff with Prescott. Lance serves as a crucial backup plan in case negotiations with Prescott fall through. Moreover, the Packers already have a promising backup quarterback in Jordan Love, making the trade less appealing for them as well.

Ultimately, trading Lance for a fourth-round pick would only make sense for the Cowboys if they were confident in bringing Prescott back and prioritized filling roster holes through the draft. Until Prescott’s contract situation is resolved, trading Lance remains an improbable option for the Cowboys.
