Birmingham City 20y/o star agrees deal after previously rejecting 3 Club | CONFIRMED
Birmingham City’s defender, Rico Browne, has reached an agreement on a new contract, according to sources close to Football Insider.
The 20-year-old center-back is set to extend his tenure at St Andrew’s, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2024. Browne’s decision comes after showcasing exceptional talent in Birmingham’s youth system and impressing during loan spells.
Despite having trials at Premier League clubs, including West Ham United and Tottenham, Browne has opted to commit his future to Birmingham. He was also on Manchester United’s radar last year, highlighting his growing reputation in the football world.
Currently on loan at Rushall Olympic in the National League North, Browne has made a significant impact, starting 17 league games and contributing with a goal and two assists. Despite being a natural center-back, he has also been deployed as a defensive midfielder during his loan stint.
While Browne awaits his senior debut for Birmingham, he has been a regular feature for their youth teams. Birmingham City, currently 21st in the Championship table, recently secured a 3-0 victory against Coventry City and will face Rotherham United in their next fixture.
