JUST IN: West brom to wave good-bye to their ageing attacker…

West Bromwich Albion may soon part ways with an aging player earning £20,000 per week, whose value has depreciated compared to the emerging talent of Tom Fellows.

As West Brom strives to overcome a recent dip in form in the Championship, their upcoming match against Leicester City presents an opportunity to bounce back. The outcome of this clash could significantly impact the title race.

Tom Fellows, despite a relatively quiet performance in the previous game, remains a promising prospect for West Brom. On the other hand, the future of an aging winger, Matt Phillips, seems uncertain as his contract nears its end and his value diminishes.

Once acquired for a substantial £6 million during West Brom’s tenure in the Premier League, Matt Phillips, now 33 years old, no longer commands such a high price. Despite flashes of brilliance this season, injuries have hindered his contributions to the team.

While Phillips has struggled with injuries, young talents like Tom Fellows and loanee Mikey Johnston have emerged, potentially diminishing Phillips’ role within the squad. With his contract expiring soon, West Brom risks losing him for nothing.

Matt Phillips’ current market value of €1 million (£853k) pales in comparison to Tom Fellows’ €1.4 million (£1.1m), reflecting Fellows’ rising prominence. Furthermore, Fellows has outperformed Phillips this season, highlighting his potential.

With several older players, including Phillips, reaching the end of their contracts, West Brom may undergo a restructuring process. While Phillips’ departure would be significant, prioritizing younger talents like Fellows could benefit the team in the long run.
