Birmingham city remain win focused despite opponent’s new development…
Birmingham City is gearing up for an important match as they head to Yorkshire to take on Rotherham United, who have already been relegated. The big news is that Rotherham has made a significant change ahead of the game.
Steve Evans has been appointed as the new manager of Rotherham United, and his first test will be against Birmingham City this Saturday. This decision comes shortly after the dismissal of Leam Richardson as the head coach.
Rotherham’s decision to bring in Evans marks a swift transition following Richardson’s departure. Evans, who previously managed the team, returns to Rotherham after leaving his position as Stevenage boss.
Tony Stewart, chairman of Rotherham United, expressed his excitement about Evans and Paul Raynor returning to the club, while also thanking Richardson and Rob Kelly for their contributions.
Rotherham’s recent relegation to League One was confirmed a couple of weeks ago, prompting the change in leadership. Richardson, who took over in December, struggled to secure victories, winning only two out of 24 games during his 128-day tenure.
Kelly, who served as assistant head coach alongside Richardson, will also be leaving the club. His departure signifies a shift in the coaching staff, as he had previously worked with Richardson at Wigan Athletic.
In their last match under Richardson’s leadership, Rotherham suffered a 1-0 defeat to Swansea City, leaving them 21 points adrift of safety, with Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday occupying the other relegation places.
