I have more pride from ‘unfair’ defeat | Carlos Corberan

West Brom manager Carlos Corberan expressed a sense of pride despite his team’s “unfair” defeat against Leicester, feeling more fulfilled in this loss than in their previous unbeaten away streak.

Despite dominating possession and creating numerous clear chances, Albion succumbed to a 2-1 loss at the King Power Stadium. Corberan highlighted Leicester’s effective defending, including Hamza Choudhury’s three goal-line clearances and Kyle Bartley’s strike hitting the woodwork, as pivotal moments.

The match saw Wilfred Ndidi and Jamie Vardy scoring for Leicester, against the run of play, ultimately leading to Albion’s defeat. Despite the setback, Corberan praised his team’s performance, emphasizing their ability to create opportunities against a formidable opponent like Leicester. He acknowledged the pressure on Leicester but commended their resilience and quality throughout the game.

Corberan noted Leicester’s consistent possession-based style of play, which Albion attempted to counter with their own attacking prowess.

Despite clear chances in both halves and a late goal from Jed Wallace, Albion couldn’t secure an equalizer. Corberan referenced statistics to illustrate Albion’s dominance in chances created and expected goals, indicating a shift in the team’s performance despite the loss.

Reflecting on the match, Corberan expressed immense pride in his team’s effort, considering it their best performance despite the unfavorable result.

He acknowledged the unpredictability of football, where the outcome is determined solely by goals scored. Despite their efforts falling short, Corberan remained positive about Albion’s performance, emphasizing the resilience and determination displayed by his players throughout the match.
