Brentford star: ‘Our chief target is to stay clear of the bottom table…
In an exclusive interview with Capital Football following Brentford’s impressive 5-1 victory over Luton Town at Kenilworth Road, Kevin Schade, the Bees’ striker, reflected on various aspects of the game and the season.
Having endured an arduous eight-month injury setback, the German winger made a noteworthy return with a well-taken goal late in the match. Schade emphasized the significance of the win in dispelling any uncertainties surrounding Brentford’s form, indicating that despite facing formidable opposition during January and February, the team persevered amidst a multitude of injuries and the absence of key players like Ivan Toney, who was also suspended at one point.
Despite Toney’s pivotal role within the team, Schade highlighted that Brentford had previously demonstrated their capability to perform well even in his absence, suggesting that while Toney remains integral, the team can still thrive without him. Schade expressed the team’s objective to secure a position clear of the relegation zone while aiming to finish as high up the table as possible, with the ambitious target of potentially overtaking Fulham. Regarding his own achievement of scoring his first goal since August, Schade expressed his satisfaction and hinted at his commitment to staying with Brentford, eager to regain his form after such a prolonged absence from the pitch.
