Kieran McKenna is in no rush to depart Portman road despite European champions eyes on him…

The manager of Ipswich Town, Kieran McKenna, has caught the attention of Premier League club West Ham United amid speculation about the future of David Moyes, as reported by TEAMtalk.

Ipswich Town, under McKenna’s leadership, are striving for consecutive promotions and currently hold third place in the Championship, trailing Leeds United after their recent 4-3 victory over Middlesbrough. Despite this, Ipswich has a game in hand.

McKenna’s success has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, with Europa Conference League champions West Ham being the latest to express interest. West Ham’s recent 5-2 loss to Crystal Palace has intensified pressure on Moyes, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

A shortlist of potential replacements for Moyes reportedly includes McKenna and Ruben Amorim, the current Sporting Lisbon manager, who is also a target for Liverpool.

McKenna’s appeal lies in his distinct playing style, which emphasizes attacking football. Ipswich has been lauded for their offensive prowess, having scored 85 goals in 43 league matches this season, a record matched only by Southampton. However, any move for McKenna would likely involve a significant financial outlay, as he is under contract with Ipswich until 2027.

West Ham faces a challenging end to the season, with fixtures against Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, and relegation-threatened Luton Town. Ipswich also has a crucial week ahead, facing Hull City and Coventry City before a potentially decisive match against Huddersfield Town.

It appears increasingly likely that McKenna will receive an opportunity in the Premier League due to his success with Ipswich Town. However, Ipswich hopes to retain him, as securing nine points from their remaining matches would secure promotion to the top tier.

McKenna, though aware of the allure of the Premier League, is in no rush to leave Ipswich. He recognizes the challenges of managing West Ham, especially following Moyes, whose tenure has been marked by success, including winning a major trophy last season, despite dividing the fanbase.
