Ex Birmingham man who was sacked after 15 games on new Year day secures a new job..

Wayne Rooney’s tenure as manager of Birmingham City was short-lived, lasting only 15 games before he was sacked following a defeat against Leeds United on New Year’s Day.

Rooney, after departing Birmingham City, has transitioned to punditry, recently joining The Overlap podcast as a member. He took on the managerial role at Birmingham City in October, succeeding John Eustace, but the team’s performance declined under his leadership, leading to his dismissal with just two wins in 15 matches.

Since leaving his managerial position, Rooney has been active in the punditry realm, making appearances as a guest pundit for Sky Sports’ coverage of the Merseyside derby. However, he missed out on a planned appearance on Match of the Day due to a back injury.

Expressing his disappointment on social media, Rooney mentioned his desire to join the iconic Match of the Day show and his intention to return to the punditry team once he recovers from his back injury.

Currently, Rooney is set to join The Overlap podcast as a regular contributor, joining a lineup that includes Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright, Jill Scott, and Roy Keane. Gary Neville confirmed Rooney’s involvement, expressing excitement about having him join the team, while Rooney himself expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to contribute to the podcast and other shows on The Overlap channel.

As for Birmingham City’s prospects, the question remains whether they can overcome their challenges and secure survival in the Championship.
