Ongoing drama that may lead to Brighton manager moving…

Consideration is currently being given to the possibility of simply paying Roberto De Zerbi’s release clause, which could potentially lead to a dramatic turn of events involving the Brighton manager moving to AC Milan.

AC Milan finds themselves in a challenging situation with their supporters as Stefano Pioli’s tenure is expected to come to an end at the conclusion of the season. Consequently, the Rossoneri have been actively searching for his replacement.

Their pursuit initially involved contacting Julen Lopetegui and engaging in discussions with the manager, bringing them close to offering him the job. However, this move faced opposition from the fans, who launched a campaign against Lopetegui, causing #Nopetegui to trend on social media. The supporters are clamoring for a higher-profile figure to take the helm, potentially leading Milan to consider Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton & Hove Albion.

While De Zerbi is not the sole candidate under consideration, other options such as Antonio Conte, who seems close to joining Napoli, and Thiago Motta, currently with Bologna and reportedly interested in Juventus, are slipping away.

Previously, Milan had ruled out paying De Zerbi’s release clause to Brighton, which was valued at €13 million at the time. However, according to reports from Calciomercato, this stance is no longer considered an insurmountable obstacle.

The pressure from disgruntled supporters has backed Milan into a corner, potentially prompting them to view the Brighton manager as a viable solution. It is acknowledged that if De Zerbi were to join Milan, he would likely be granted significant authority within the club, a departure from their usual approach, but this is not seen as a major hindrance.

De Zerbi’s perspective on the situation remains uncertain. While AC Milan presents a significant opportunity, he has also been linked to other prominent positions recently.

Despite facing challenges at Brighton in the latter part of this season, De Zerbi’s appeal to Italian clubs has not been completely diminished and could even make him more attainable.
