Exclusive:Bills Executive Has Declined Interview For Patriots GM Job..
The New England Patriots are currently facing organizational upheaval, with Eliot Wolf stepping into the role of de facto General Manager and Director of Scouting following the departure of longtime head coach and quasi-GM Bill Belichick from the sidelines.
During Belichick’s tenure, there wasn’t an official general manager, leaving the front office in a state of flux. Now, as the Patriots seek to stabilize their leadership structure, they extended an invitation to Buffalo Bills’ Director of Player Personnel, Terrance Gray, to interview for the primary football executive position. However, Gray declined the opportunity, likely due to the expectation that Eliot Wolf will ultimately assume the role.

Although Wolf has been steering the team through critical processes like free agency and the draft, he has yet to be officially named the permanent general manager. The organization must adhere to the Rooney Rule, necessitating a full interview process before a decision is made.
Wolf has emphasized the collaborative nature of the Patriots’ operations, but he has been the driving force behind significant decisions such as the selection of Drake Maye in the draft. It would be peculiar to involve Wolf in these pivotal decisions and then not offer him the role of general manager.
