Millwall Confirms new director as CEO and head of recruitment leave roles at the club

Millwall is facing significant changes as CEO Steve Kavanagh and recruitment chief Alex Aldridge are reported to have departed from their roles at the club. Both individuals played crucial roles within the Lions’ organization, with Kavanagh serving as chief executive since 2016 and Aldridge overseeing recruitment operations.

Their exits follow a turbulent season for Millwall, marked by the tragic passing of owner and chairman John Berylson last summer, with his son James assuming the chairman’s position. Despite the challenges, Millwall had experienced success under Kavanagh’s tenure, including promotion to the Championship and a consistent presence in the second tier.

The recent season saw upheaval with three different head coaches taking charge. Neil Harris, who led Millwall to a playoff victory in 2017, departed in 2019, succeeded by Gary Rowett. However, Rowett’s departure in October 2023 led to the appointment of Joe Edwards, whose tenure was short-lived, resulting in Harris’s return and successful efforts to avoid relegation.

The departures of Kavanagh and Aldridge signal a significant transition for Millwall, with the club yet to provide official confirmation but not denying the reports. Amidst the changes, the club faces the task of regrouping and navigating the challenges ahead.
