As a predicted transfer, West Ham is very interested in purchasing the team’s top player for Lopetegui
According to Vamos Mi Sevilla, West Ham is now “seriously” interested in purchasing long-term transfer target Youssef En-Nesyri, as the arrival of Julen Lopetegui has increased interest in the striker.
The forward is “lightyears” ahead of everyone else in the Andalusian club’s roster, according to a May 12 internet article from the Spanish media. With his old boss expected to take over at the London Stadium, there is even more incentive to eventually complete a trade.
En-Nesyri, 26, was linked to West Ham during several transfer windows under David Moyes. In 2020, Lopetegui won the Europa League while managing him in La Liga.
After losing 3-2 to Villarreal, Sevilla is now ranked 12th in the top flight of Spain. En-Nesyri, who scored both of his team’s goals in the match, is one player who is “surely” going to be traded at the end of the season.
Will West Ham sign a striker once David Moyes leaves?
This summer appears to be the right time for the Irons to recruit En-Nesyri, given the need to bolster their assault and the hiring of a manager who has experience working with the Moroccan international.
Given that the striker has just one year remaining on his contract this summer (MARCA), it is likely that Lopetegui and Tim Steidten will reach a more favorable transfer agreement than the technical director has with Moyes over the previous 12 months.
Under the new West Ham manager, En-Nesyri’s finest goal-scoring season was in the 2020–21 campaign, when he scored 18 goals in La Liga and another six in the Champions League.
It should come as no surprise that interest at the London Stadium is high once more after a few disappointing years since he has bounced back this season to score 19 in all competitions.
Gianluca Scamacca left West Ham in the summer after the team attempted and failed to sign a striker, and only the disastrous loan deal for Kalvin Phillips was signed in January.
Youssef En-Nesyri was often mentioned as a potential signing by David Moyes at West Ham.
After his contract expires, teenage player Divin Mubama looks to be heading out, while Danny Ings has only made four appearances for the Irons this season. Michail Antonio, 34, has long been linked to a move elsewhere.
Thus, it appears like at least one striker will be needed this summer, and En-Nesyri may be that player given his recent inexpensive pricing.
