New manager for squad set to compete with Peterborough United for promotion from League One next season as Hotshot striker departs from recently promoted club
League One team Michael Duff, the former manager of Barnsley, has been named the next head coach of Huddersfield Town.
The previous season, Duff led the Tykes to the League One play-off final, where they unfortunately lost to Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley.
He went to manage Swansea City in the Championship after leaving Oakwell, but in December he was fired.
Duff takes over for Andre Breitenreiter, who departed Huddersfield amicably after being unable to prevent their relegation from the Championship.
Duff stated on the club website, “Since leaving my previous role, I’ve had time to reflect, recharge, and focus on what the next challenge I wanted to take on would look like.” “Whatever was to come had to be right and be a good fit, and that is exactly what this feels like.”
Huddersfield has had six permanent managers since Carlos Corberan departed the team in July 2022, and Duff is the latest.
Paddy Madden, a prominent player for Stockport County in League One, has left the team to rejoin Chesterfield, who have been promoted, in League Two. After scoring 22 goals in a season that saw him promoted from League Two, the 34-year-old was unable to come to an agreement on fresh terms with Stockport.
