(Video): Marc Cucurella made a bold action in response to taunts from Brighton supporters

Marc Cucurella faced a barrage of boos from Brighton fans right from the start at the Amex Stadium last night.

Returning to his former club, he was met with jeers and abuse as soon as he stepped onto the pitch.

Cucurella responded admirably by playing a pivotal role in Chelsea’s victory. He was involved from the outset, with a potential penalty for a foul on him overturned by VAR in the first half. He then set up Cole Palmer’s opening goal with a well-placed cross and made a crucial sliding challenge late in the game to prevent a shot on goal.

Overall, it was a strong performance from a player who never shies away from the action. While Cucurella has his flaws, lack of commitment is certainly not one of them.

However, his late tackle could have easily backfired. Such aggressive moves in the box are high-risk; a slight miscalculation could result in conceding a penalty, giving the home fans even more reason to jeer.
