Southampton owner Solak issues alarming update after reaching playoff final

SAINTS owner Dragan Solak hailed the club’s victory over West Brom as “super special” as they secured a spot in the Championship playoff final.

Solak, the principal investor in Sport Republic, was present at St Mary’s Stadium to witness manager Russell Martin’s team triumph over the Baggies with a 3-1 win.

This victory brings Saints, who have received over £200 million from their new ownership group amid challenging financial times, within one game of rejoining the Premier League.

Solak attributed the win to the hard work behind the scenes in creating an ideal atmosphere for the team both before and during the match.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Echo, Solak remarked, “It’s super special and it’s special because we see the happy faces. For the Southampton fans and for me, it’s an unbelievable feeling. We talked about how amazing the West Brom fans were at their home game, and we knew we needed to match that energy. Phil Parsons and the rest of the management team put in a tremendous effort, and the fans responded brilliantly, making it an unforgettable experience.”

Thousands of Saints supporters lined the streets, donned in the club’s colors and holding pyrotechnics, to greet the team bus.

Saints are set to face Leeds United, who finished third, at Wembley on Sunday, May 26, with a Premier League spot on the line.

Solak had a straightforward message for the players and fans ahead of the crucial match, which carries a financial windfall of over £150 million: “I hope they give their best effort and leave everything on the field. We’ll be there to support them, and let’s hope for the best.”
