Leeds have no choice but to trade fan idol in a £33m agreed deal

Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville, 22, has emerged as one of the Championship’s most sought-after players as a result of his outstanding 2023–2024 season performances with Leeds United.

A summer transfer appears more plausible now that Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly interested, especially after the Yorkshire team was unable to get promoted back to the Premier League.

Leeds United is in serious financial trouble. Despite player sales, the team recently declared a £33.7 million loss. The club owes £190 million from transfers made during Andrea Radrizzani’s leadership. Summerville and other great players will be hard to keep at the club given its financial struggles.

Summerville became a vital player for Leeds after leaving Feyenoord in 2020. He made 49 appearances in all competitions during the 2023–2024 season, starting 45 of those games. He made a significant contribution, tallying 21 goals and dishing out 10 assists. Despite his best efforts, the Whites’ attempt to gain promotion was unsuccessful as they were defeated by Southampton in the play-off final on May 26 at Wembley.

Chelsea and Liverpool are interested in Crysencio Summerville.

Summerville’s remarkable performance has garnered a lot of notice. According to The Telegraph, Leeds values him at around £30 million, a price that Chelsea and Liverpool might match. According to Football Insider, Summerville’s departure is “inevitable” as a result of Leeds’ inability to get promoted back to the Premier League.

Summerville’s ability and influence on the field are highlighted by his selection as the Championship Player of the Season. He is an invaluable asset to any elite squad because of his ability to score and create goals.

Arne Slot, the new manager of Liverpool, is a big fan of the winger and tried to sign him for Feyenoord during the January transfer window. And as he puts together his Liverpool team for the first time this summer, it’s possible that the 45-year-old may finally acquire Summerville.
