Reading chief slammed with FA penalty for suspected breaches of betting rules
Mark Bowen, the head of football operations at Reading, has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association for allegedly breaking betting rules.
The Wales international and former Norwich City player concluded his playing career at the SCL Stadium, although he went on to take on a number of off-field positions, such as first-team manager and his present position as Head of Football Operations.
Bowen, who is currently regarded as the club’s public face, has had a significant role in hiring and operations since his return in 2022.
Nonetheless, he has until this Friday, June 7, to reply to the regulatory body following his misbehavior accused of putting 95 wagers between 2022 and 2024.
The Head of Football Operations at Reading has been accused of wrongdoing regarding violations of the FA’s betting regulations, according to a statement released by the FA.
“Mark Bowen allegedly places 95 bets on football matches between April 19 2022 and 14 January 2024, which were unrelated to Reading, and he has until Friday, June 7 to respond.”
This occurs only a few weeks after Nigel Howe, the previous CEO and lead takeover negotiator, received a football ban related to Michael Olise’s agent.
