Birmingham City confirms discussions with Wrexham target about possible transfer

Alan Nixon, a reporter, states on his Patreon page that Birmingham City and Brighton are talking about a possible move for Marc Leonard.

Birmingham City wants to get the player this summer as they get ready for life in League One after being relegated from the Championship. Along with Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town, they were relegated last season.

Leonard, who is 22 years old, is in high demand before the transfer window opens. He has to make a big choice about where to go next. TEAMtalk says that ambitious League Two promotion winners Wrexham want him. Hull City, Plymouth Argyle, and Preston have also been named as possible bidders.

Nixon, a journalist, said on Patreon that the Blues want to bring him to the Midlands because they want to get out of the third division as soon as possible. This is the latest news about his position. They stay in the hunt for a new boss following Gary Rowett’s spell in interim charge.

Birmingham City would make a big move to sign Leonard if they could beat out other teams that want to sign him.

He is a decent age, has ability to develop and would inject more quality and energy into their midfield ranks.

The Scotsman has a year left on his deal at Brighton but his chances of getting into their first-team in the Premier League are slim due to the abundance of talent that they have at their disposal in his position. Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him head out the exit door.

Northampton Town brought him in on loan in 2022 and he helped them win promotion from League Two last year. He then returned to Sixfields for another stint and adapted well to life in the league above.

Leonard made 97 appearances for Brady’s side in all categories to boost his development, chipping in with six goals.

What next?

He will be weighing up his choices and deciding whether he wants to depart the AMEX Stadium.

Birmingham City would be an exciting project to be apart of but they need to fend off interest from the likes of Wrexham, Hull City, Plymouth Argyle and Preston if they are to get him.
