Ipswich Town now face ‘serious problem’ in quest to sign Coventry City star man
Ben Sheaf of Coventry City has once again been connected to newly promoted Ipswich Town, although the club’s valuation for one of their most sellable assets at the moment “could be a problem,” it is said.
The Tractor Boys, who won automatic promotion to the Premier League in their first season back in the Championship, are reportedly looking to bolster their midfield. Lewis O’Brien of Nottingham Forest is high on their list of targets, which also reportedly includes Sheaf of Sky Blues. This information comes from Alan Nixon of The Sun.
O’Brien, 25, is rumored to be leaving the City Ground permanently because Middlesbrough, where he was on loan last season, is eager to have him back. It is also rumored that O’Brien is of interest to Sheffield United, who was relegated.
The player is “valued under £10m,” and Ipswich would seem to be the favorites to sign him, according to the source, which also states that “Ipswich are looking into Coventry midfielder Ben Sheaf, although his price tag could be a problem.”
“Sheaf is also wanted by Luton, and the Sky Blues are asking for much more than that for him, while O’Brien is valued at less than £10 million.”
Sheaf, who will be crowned Mark Robins’ new captain if he stays at the CBS Arena this summer, was first connected to Luton back in January. Fulham has also been linked to the former Arsenal prospect thus far this summer.
