Nottingham Forest in race for free agent striker “Che Adams”
In order to bolster Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad this summer, Nottingham Forest will have to bide their time for free agent target Che Adams.
The striker’s Southampton deal is set to expire at the end of this month. The Reds are not the only team interested in him and want to bolster their offensive options.
The 27-year-old is reportedly attracting interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers as well as from Italy, the Major League Soccer, and Saudi Arabia, according to BBC Sport.
When the Saints released their retained list last week, they stated that negotiations were “ongoing” about the player’s possible new contract.
However, given that Adams is now representing Scotland at Euro 2024, it appears that a decision about his future will not be made quickly. According to the BBC, his status is “unlikely to be resolved” before the tournament begins. Scotland will play Germany in the opening round on Friday night.
According to reports, Forest and Wolves “remain the favourites” in the competition for his signature.
The Reds are especially drawn to the front man since he is a free agent, especially after they lost four games due to financial regulations the previous year. Adams was already under the notice of Forest.
When Sabri Lamouchi took over in January 2020, he was on the Reds’ wanted list. At the time, Leeds United was one of the teams interested in the forward. Still, he chose to stay on the south shore.
Adams, who was formerly an Ilkeston Town player, joined the Saints in 2019 and has been a member of the team for the last five years. Throughout his more than 160 league games, he has netted 49 goals for the team.
He scored sixteen goals in the 2023–2024 campaign, helping Southampton qualify for the Premier League playoffs and return to the top division right away.
