Former manager gives verdict on Leeds United star amid Liverpool transfer warning

Crysencio Summerville is destined for the Premier League, according to Alan Pardew, but it’s unclear if he’ll be ready to sign with a team like Liverpool this summer.

The development of Summerville has been aided by the seasoned manager Pardew, who managed ADO Den Haag of the Netherlands while the winger was on loan from Feyenoord in the 2019–20 season.

At the age of 17, Summerville made his debut for the Eredivisie team and scored twice in 21 games before the coronavirus pandemic put an end to football.

Summerville, who only paid £1.5 million to join Leeds the following summer, has grown into one of Europe’s most sought-after teenage wingers.

He had a fantastic debut season playing regularly, scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists to earn the Championship Player of the Season award. Several Premier League teams, like Brighton, Chelsea, and Liverpool, are interested in that form.

The 22-year-old appears ready to advance in his career, and a transfer to the Premier League is a possibility. However, Pardew has cautioned against jumping to a premier club too soon and said the Dutchman’s long-term development could be best served by a transfer to the AMEX.

Pardew mentioned his time coaching the player during his stint at ADO Den Haag on talkSPORT, recalling the player’s young age of 16 or 17 and describing him as a delightful and receptive individual.

Alongside Alex Dyer, Pardew dedicated efforts to acclimatize the player to the demands of men’s football, a task they undertook diligently.

“He’s a bit like Yamal at Barcelona; he adapted effortlessly. Fearless and full of pace, he brought that same spirit to Leeds. His acceleration over a short distance is unmatched, and coupled with his technical ability to outmaneuver opponents, he’s a force.

Once he breaks free, it’s game over. However, his final decision-making will determine his success at higher levels of football. Without a doubt, he’s destined for the Premier League.”

“What I am saying is to get to Liverpool, I can see why they might sort of, Brighton might be a better move for him to see how he copes. Does he pick that moment? That’s the difference between having extraordinary pace and being brilliant in the Premier League is the decision-making process.”

Summerville made wise choices on a regular basis last season, but the lure of regular play might cause him to pick a place like Brighton over teams vying for a Champions League spot.

During United’s vain attempt at promotion, the winger was virtually a constant, starting 44 of his team’s 49 league games, including the playoffs.

Whichever team he signs with, he is unlikely to play that much football in the Premier League again, but in recent years, Brighton has given players like Simon Adingra and Kaoru Mitoma a clear route to consistent starts.

After reaching out about a possible transfer, the Seagulls are said to be the front-runners; however, Leeds is certain they can wait for a price that works out for them, with asking prices ranging from £30 to £40 million.
