26-year-old swap deal with Aston Villa is reportedly about to close-DETAILS

It appears that Juventus’ first midfield addition of the summer is almost official after a few highly apparent roadblocks over the past few days.

As to the Italian rumors from Romeo Agresti and Sky Italia, Douglas Luiz’s transfer to Turin is almost finalized, with Juventus and Aston Villa agreeing on all terms. Weston McKennie has been replaced by Juventus midfielder Enzo Barrenechea. It has been claimed that the young Argentine has reached a personal agreement with Villa and that the revised finances have been worked out. Barrenechea, Samuel Iling-Junior, and about €22 million will therefore be moving to Villa, while Douglas Luiz will join Juventus as their newest midfield player.

To meet Aston Villa’s profit and sustainability requirements, the sale must close by the end of June. As a result, Juventus will get a plusvalenza of between €36 and €38 million for Barrenechea and Iling-Junior for the soon-to-be-completed fiscal year.

A 10% sell-on clause will also be available to Juventus for Barrenechea, who spent the previous season on loan at Frosinone getting his first taste of Serie A, according to reports from Agresti and Fabrizio Romano.

So, it seems like we can breathe a little easier now? For the past few weeks, the biggest Juventus transfer rumor has been the switch of Douglas Luiz. With all of the moving pieces, it appeared that the deal would go fairly well until Weston McKennie made things a little more complicated than we anticipated. However, Barrenchea, whom Thiago Motta was keen to assess during preseason training, was brought in to force the trade through after McKennie’s demands were not met, effectively forcing Juventus to come up with a backup plan.

And the swap arrangement that no one was really considering a few weeks ago will go official, barring any type of unexpected or last-minute glitch.

That implies that Motta will get one of his major summer goals before the month of June ends. Motta is just a few weeks away from starting his first preseason training sessions of the summer. Douglas Luiz is anticipated to have his medical examinations in the US in order to complete the process and become “officially official,” even though he is presently serving with Brazil on a foreign assignment at the Coppa America.

Even though the deal may not go as planned, Juventus is very close to acquiring one of their top midfield targets—someone who, hopefully, will turn out to be the right kind of player needed to improve the team’s long-standing weak point.
