Birmingham transfer deadline established as Chris Davies presents his plans

The former Leicester City and Celtic boss outlines the plans for transfers for the Blues.
Chris Davies, the head coach of Birmingham City, has given his team two weeks to earn his trust.

On Monday, July 1, Blues players are expected back for preseason play. After spending the first week of training in the Midlands, they will go to Austria for a match and more training.

From Monday, July 8 to Sunday, July 14, Birmingham will be in Austria, where they will play a match against SC Paderborn.

Paderborn will play their first game of the Davies era after finishing seventh in the German football league’s second division last season. The Pendlingstadion in Thiersee is the venue for the game.

That game and the training sessions will be used by the recently hired coach to evaluate the team he currently has available. Contract players may still be moved on, and it will also be a chance to determine which positions require attention.

When asked how long it will take to evaluate the present team, Davies told BBC Radio West Midlands Sport, “I think for me it won’t take long.”

“By the end of our week-long trip to Austria, which coincides with our first training camp week, I’ll have a firm grasp on the caliber of players I am working with,” said Hide Ad.

“The goal of the training sessions is to get to know the participants personally and to truly find out how they deal.

After Austria, I’ll have a very clear picture of what we have in the building, and that will help me understand what else we need to add to it so that we have a truly strong squad going forward.

The decisions of John Ruddy and Lukas Jutkiewicz, who have been offered new contracts, are still awaited by Birmingham. The Blues are certain that Jutkiewicz will stay, but earlier this week, it was rumored that Ruddy would be speaking with Charlton Athletic.

Birmingham has 28 players signed for the upcoming campaign according to their retained list, which was released in May. Brad Mayo, the goalkeeper, just agreed to a new two-year contract that will start at the end of the month.
